The Pancreas Lipotoxicity Research Group, led by Principal Investigator Dr. Ahmad Al-Mrabeh at University of Edinburgh, is dedicated to understanding the mechanisms underlying pancreas lipotoxicity in type 2 diabetes. The group investigates how excess fat accumulation in the pancreas affects both β-cell function and acinar cell behaviour, contributing to disease development and progression. Bringing together a multidisciplinary team of clinical researchers and basic scientists, the group reflects the interdisciplinary nature of its work, integrating patient-focused studies with fundamental laboratory research to advance knowledge and inform future therapeutic strategies.
